Say GoodBye To The Laptop And Hello To A Camera...

I did it again. I traded my Tecra 8100 Toshiba Labtop for a picture camera (once I get more info regarding the camera I will post it here. Its been a very long time since I posted anything here but here I am now better than ever. My laptop will go all the way to the east cost to a city in Florida named Umatilla. This is a very small blog but once I get the camera I will take pictures of it and tell you all about it.....so stick around for next time (in a couple of days). Toshiba Tecra 8100 Labtop...

Yes! This was the trade to get. I could have not said no to any type of laptop. I think this laptop will take me to the right direction on trading up. John (the guy who gave me his laptop) lives in Southern California. I had to travel down there during this past holiday weekend so it was convenient for me to make the trade. He was very polite and respectful and wanted to trade with me. This all took place in West L.A. (very close to UCLA) John presented his laptop to me and I was with my mouth open the whole time. Well, lets talk about the laptop. The laptop is a Toshiba Tecra 8100. The program installed in the laptop is Windows 2000 Professional Edition. It you want to go more in depth well here it is: 750Mhz/128mb/20GB/hdd/DVD-CDROM/14.1" TFT Active Matrix. You can also insert a mouse, keyboard, printer, and any USB device on the laptop. The battery charger and the Network PC Card Linksys (so that you can get instant internet access wirelessly) are also included. The laptop itself is in very good condition and it's also portable. My Offers for the Guess Diamond Watch...

My Guess Diamond Watch is getting a lot of attention in both Northern and Southern California. So far I have had eleven different offers. Some offers were just plain ridiculous. This one guy (Alex) e-mailed me saying, "Hi, I'll trade you some weed. lol" At first I thought he was playing with me but he was actually offering me weed. I reply by saying that I go to school at UC Davis and that the school might kick me out for that. So I said no. Alex later replied by saying, "Davis, huh? I've been there and trust me, pot is everybody's best friend up there cuz it's soooo boring..... anyhow, now you know. Hit me up if you change your mind about the watch or such." My other offers were more reasonable. Matt, from Northern California has this really cool snowboard. He also mentions that my name (Andy) is in the board. Jon is giving me a HP Printer that does copies and scans. Another person wants me to have his aquarium (pretty neat). In Southern California a guy wants to trade his Toshiba laptop (wow!). Another person has a pair of 'expensive' sunglasses. All of these offers are really cool to have. But like always I have to pick the one that will better benefit me latter in my 'trading up' journey. Guess Diamond Watch Up for a Trade...

This was my first official trade here in Northern California. The person who I trade my Red Nintendo DS for his Guess Diamond Watch lived somewhere in the Bay Area. Since I live in campus at UC Davis, I had to travel to down to UC Berkeley to make the trade. It was raining the entire time; it was just not a good day for a trade. But the trade happened. Right after the trade I did a small tour around Berkeley. The city (especially the Downtown area) is not that safe. So be careful if you are planning to visit Berkeley anytime soon. Okay well back to the details about the watch. The watch is new. It is made of steel and has a diamond where the number 12 is. The Guess Diamond Watch also came with its original box and watch stand. The Offers for my Red DS...

Well, now that I have moved on to Northern California trading has become a little more complicated. With college always pushing me in the other direction, my trading adventure has slowed down a little. But still I have get offers from people from all over the state. I had eight different offers from eight different people. It ranged from video games to Ipods. Some interesting items to mention were a pair of tickets to see the Kings play in Sacramento. I was about to take this offer but the date of the game was the next day and I had no time to trade the tickets for something else that fast. Another cool gismo was a Dell monitor. It came with the computer and it was the color purple. I also could have choosen a portable DVD player. A guy from the Bay Area was offering me a Guess Diamond Watch. Very fascinated I was when I heard the word 'diamond'. And so with all these interesting objects I decided to go for the Guess Diamond Watch. So now I have in my wrist a watch that is up for a trade for anyone who wants it...

Andy is Back to The Trading World...

Hello everyone, it has been like ages ago since I last wrote a blog in my trading adventure. This long wait was because I was settling myself in college. Currently I am a freshman at the University of California in Davis. During this time I was thinking if I should or should not continue the journey on trading up since being a college student is hard work. After countless hours of thinking I decided to continue.
I last left this website with an offer of a car. But the young lady of Los Angeles did not follow through with the agreement. So this means I still have the like new Red Nintendo DS up for a trade. The Offers so Far for My Nintendo DS...

Things are getting serious. Now, I am known world wide, and many people want the new Special Red Edition Nintendo DS. This has been the greatest sellout so far in my trading adventure. In total, I have had over 20 different people offering me stuff ranging from unicycles to pocket bikes. It is very hard to pick only one person, every person has a story to tell on why they want a Red Nintendo DS. But I have to pick on the trade that will help me in the long run. Well then, lets get started. These particular offers raised my eyebrows a lot: Phil from Huntington Beach in California is offering his unique unicycle. Tommy from Massachusetts wants to trade his Sony Clie'. From the country down under in Australia, Ben is bartering his electric guitar with an amp. Our neighbors from the north in Alberta, Canada Jackie would like to give me her electric scooter, and from Long Beach here in Los Angeles Jack is delighted to give me his pocket bike. Some others that are fun to mention are: 1o cases of beer, a pet snake with cage, comic books of Batgirl, and my choice of 50 DVD's. As it is always, now its my turn to decide which one will receive my Red Nintendo DS. My Fourth Trade Offer...

This was the obvious trade to get. I made this trade near Downtown Los Angeles (This by far has been the closest trade I have done) and didn't need to ship it out of state. I took public transportation to get the Red Nintendo DS. Out of the other game systems, this one was the newest one. I was also thinking about portability when making this trade. Jacqueline Lacy (the young lady who gave me the Red Nintendo DS) said that her boyfriend gave it to her as a gift but she was not so into playing those type of games. This means she hardly ever used the game system herself. The Red Nintendo DS itself is in mint condition (really it is), and it includes the AC adapter, rechargeable battery pack, Mario Kart DS game, a wrist strap, and a special edition Mario key chain. It is still in its designed box with all the manual and instructions. This is great for absolutely anyone who loves to have fun. The is my latest trade offer for you. The Offers So Far for My Sports Car...

I have been given many numerous offers for the Sports Car. But it seems to me the majority (well mostly all of them) are gather in one catergory...Game system consoles. Well, this means I have a wide range of options, and it will be difficult for me to pick only one offer. But I got to do what I got to do (pick one). These offers come from all around the United States. So here it goes: a guy from Phoenix, Arizona is offering me a PlayStation 2; in Indianapolis, Indiana a guy wants to trade his (old) XBOX system; from the south side of Florida another guy is bartering a new DVD Player; and in my hometown of Los Angeles a young lady is offering me her "never played" Nintendo DS (Special Edition). So I have from many to choose from and it will be very soon. All of these items are surely worth more than my Sports Car, so that mean I am doing good progress to my goal of receiving my "real life size" car. My Third Trade Offer...

I traded the One Blue Miniature Football to a guy from Sacramento, California. In return he gave me a Tyco Invader Sports Car. This is a pretty cool trade, Jeff said that he collected footballs and was in a desperate need to get my blue football for his collection. Jeff offered me many unique items (some good to mention were a VCR, deer antlers, a jersey from the Sacramento Kings, or a collection of DVD's from the Simpsons) but the one that ranked high scores in my mind was the sports car. The car itself comes completely loaded with everything needed to play with it at the park. The car came with the controller, the charger, and the rechargeable battery. It runs pretty fast and it can run through almost any type of ground. Both of the front wheels turn so that the car can go either direction. I really would love to keep this car but this is not the car I am looking for (I want a big one, the ones I see driving on the freeways) so I am willing to trade this too. The whole car looks new and it is in need for someone to take it for a test drive. So everyone start your engines...

You gotta give it to him...Kyle's the man

I first heard about Kyle and his adventures on 20/20 (July 14, 2006) and I was amazed with his accomplishments. Knowing that I was doing the same thing I week prior to the TV segment on his trading experiences made me feel good about how I was heading in my unique and personal adventures. This is a great idea. And I am lucky to be doing this as a project for my school.I am a kid (well I'm 18) from Los Angeles attending LATTC (Los Angeles Trade Technical College). I am taking a class called "How to become successful online" and three weeks into the course my teacher told everyone to find a way in which you are connected 24/7 with the internet and to also become interacted with the people. My little sister gave me the idea of trading my junk to other people. I started by posting flyers outside my neighborhood (and putting my e-mail address) but that did not help at all.On July 14, 2006, my sister came to the rescue again telling me that ABC was going to air a story that resembled my school project about a guy who traded and traded until he got a house. I could not believe what I was hearing and seeing. This guy was a very brave person and he let nothing destroy his dreams. Some people seek guidance from the ones who have experienced it before. I can admit to my myself that I would not be here right not if it wasn't for Kyle (this one is for you) and his wild story. That is why I am dedicating this blog to him (cause I think he needs recognition for bringing hope to everyone who wants to follow his footsteps) so that the spirit of giving continues on.My teacher at LATTC was amazed that I was going to do something this strange (and I received an A+ for the project at the end of the course). But insisted in me to go forward until I get what I want (a car). If Kyle can get a house then why can't I get a car? Everyone at school in cheering me on (I'm becoming the talk of my school) and even my little sister is doing some advertising for me. It seems to me that I will be capable of achieving this goal. All it needs is patients and a lot of creativeness. Once again I want to thank Kyle for his story, my sister for making me watch ABC, and for my teacher (Mr. Roberts) for creating this interesting project for me.

Just over a week into my journey I received my first trade offer. I could not have turned the offer down. A guy from Spotswood, New Jersey offered me a blue miniature football (which I totally loved). It may seem as nothing but it was my first big trade. I was so excited. We made arrangements for the trade. And now I have a blue miniature football with me. But as how the plan goes I must say good-bye to this football too.
My teacher (Mr. Roberts) was delighted to see that everything was going as planned. "Sooner or later you will be offered a car!". The whole school is now aware of my doings and are helping me in finding people that would like to trade with me. (Thank you very much to everyone who is helping me) It seems to me that this business of trading is not so difficult after all. You actually get to interact with many people each having something new to say. Now I have a blue miniature football. Anybody wants it? Well if you do, than you can give me a call and offer me bid before someone else scores a touchdown.

It all Started with a small pin...

My little sister explained an idea that really interested me. "Is it possible to trade something that is worthless [for you] with someone else?" I was thinking about this concept for some time until I decided to try it myself. But the question was what am I trying to get? I was thinking of something big like a laptop or a mountain bike. But my sister insisted in me going further. Her advice was to try to get a car. A car! Yes a car. That is what I am trying to trade up for. And so I am in this bet with my sister to prove that it can be done by me.

It all started with a pin I found from my way to school. I was planning not to pick it up but something told me too. The pin was an old style (electric) guitar. It was no more bigger than the size of your pinky. It brought no interest to me but as how the saying goes, "one man's garbage is another man's treasure" someone out there might be looking for a pin guitar. And so I started to listen to my sister (as if I ever do) and went online to post the ad.
